Reliability isn’t about being glued to your phone. Let clients know your schedule upfront. Something like, “I’ll be offline on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but can check emails briefly on the 26th,” sets the tone without making you sound unavailable.

Address key tasks and concerns before logging off. Wrap up reports, schedule content, or check in with clients proactively. The more you prepare, the fewer “urgent” pings you’ll get during the holiday dinner.

Setting boundaries isn’t just about you. It shows clients and bosses that balance is part of working effectively. The best results come when everyone’s recharged and ready to tackle the new year. If you manage teams, allowing them to see you disconnect also allows them to disconnect.
