Hey lunch buddies.  I hope you enjoyed your past few weeks, I’ve been on vacation which helps explain why you haven’t received a new #SEOForLunch issue in the past few weeks.

So where was I?  I was up north in  small town called “Orr, Minnesota”.  We rented out a cabin on the lake with a bunch of other family members and did a ton of boating, swimming and fishing… we might have enjoyed a drink or two as well.

Ultimately it was a great break but I’m glad to be back and more importantly getting the newsletter back and running.

What You Must Know

Article: Google Makes Big Changes in Google Search Console

What’s important?
Per Google: “An incremental improvement in Google’s logging system now provides better accounting for results in lower positions. This change might cause increase in impressions, but also a decrease in average positions. This change only affects Search Console reporting, not your actual performance on Google Search.”

Nick’s take:
While this update doesn’t have much of a performance impact its very important to understand your data sources.  If you or your clients have seen a dip around the second week of July for ‘average position’ then rest easy knowing this is a non-issue.
