Howdy lunch pals. I’m currently in route to Seattle for the #MozCon SEO conference. If you happen to be at the conference as well, say ‘HI’ or ping me on Twitter to catch up and chat in person. I don’t frequent SEO conferences often but MozCon has yet to dissapoint so i’m very excited for the next few days.
Since i’m forced to travel for work on the weekend I took Friday off to take my three kiddos to the zoo. My came home with a 70inch stuffed snake animal. His name is “snakey”. It was a great opportunity to spend some quality time with the kids and not have to fight typical zoo traffic given that we went early in the morning on a Friday.

Article: Last weeks algorthm update was not Penguin related says Google reps
in last week’s newsletter I covered that multiple sources were stating that Google search results had been going through an overhaul. Google rep John Mueller has confirmed that this was NOT a penguin penalty update.
Google still hasn’t said much about this update but they did confirm that it was indeed not a Penguin update. It’s veen a few years since Google has refreshed its Penguin penalty leaving many sites with mimimal or no Google search traffic. My clients sites didn’t seem to benefit or get hurt from this update however its very important to stay up to date with recent algo changes.
SEO/Marketing Tips & Advice
I admit i’m not very good at setting time aside to read SEO/marketing books. When I came across this post covering 52 ‘essential’ books it definitely helped prioritize the ones i’m going to read first. Permission Marketing by Seth Godin (no affiliate link) has been moved to the top of the list for me.
