A lot has changed the past month. I’ve moved on from publicly sharing my first niche site in the apparel industry. It’s been slowly but surely dropping in rank and income over the months due to the competition exploding post penguin. In the end you guys decided it was time to start something new which resulted in the launch of my new niche website in the competitive auto insurance niche. This leaves us with an income report for my Amazon Associates affiliate site now utilizing the SkimLinks network.
BestCanisterVacuums.Net – Income Via SkimLinks
Wow – www.bestcanistervacuums.net has done a complete 360 in the past few months. This site was only making $15-$25 a month when I received the noticed that I was getting kicked out of the Amazon affiliate program. At that point I figured my affiliate site utilizing Amazon was worthless. I even tried to offer it up for sale to one of my readers for $400.00. I’m really glad they turned me down. After being introduced to the affiliate program SkimLinks I was able to get the site up and rolling again. Just a few months ago I was making $25 and now over $400.00.
For those that read my review about SkimLinks you’ll remember that the benefit of using their program is that I can jump into a higher commission bracket due to their partnership with Amazon. Unfortunately, by using SkimLinks I forfeit 25% of my monthly earnings to the program. This may seem like a screw-job but really i’m only losing a few bucks when you calculate the difference between the commission bracket I would be in if i were an amazon associates affiliate (4-6.5% for first 110 items sold) vs (8.5%). You can see the chart below.
July brought nearly 3000 visits. 2860 to be exact. Not bad for a site that’s only been live for 3 months. I only added a few articles in the month of July so most of the income was passive which is phenomenal. I’ll continue to add a few more articles in the upcoming month. These articles will be great for recurring content and hopefully building up some additional traffic through long tail keyword phrases.
Tools I Use For Selecting and Building My Niche Sites
Since starting this public niche site experiment I have had a few people ask me what I use to determine my niches, keywords, and how I build my sites. Below are a few tools that I rely on to help build sites. These links are affiliate links so if you purchase through one thanks in advance. I would recommend these tools regardless of the affiliate offering so if you want too Google search the product name and I avoid giving me a small referral bonus that’s cool. It’s completely up to you – but still check out these tools and services!
I use HostGator for my web hosting. They also own SEOHosting which will allow you to utilize multiple IP addresses if your interested in scaling your niche website creation or even building links through expired domains. Use promo code “25OFFNICHEHOSTING” to save 25%
If you want to build a website very similar to my website bestcanistervacuums.net you’ll need to get the wordpress plugin WPZonBuilder. This plugin allows you to very easily build product pages that encourage your visitors to click over to Amazon using your affiliate link.
