Baltimore Insurance Website Update

Outside of my post about selling i’ve been a bit quite lately.  It’s been crazy busy lately and the holidays certainly aren’t helping much.  Fortunately I have a bunch of vacation time i’m cashing in on and hope to dedicate some of it towards my public sites.   until then I wanted to give you an update on my publish insurance niche website

Rankings Update

From the very beginning i’ve known that this website wouldn’t become profitable until the website was ranking top 2 for BALTIMORE CAR INSURANCE and other variations such as AUTO INSURANCE BALTIMORE & CHEAP AUTO INSURANCE BALTIMORE. While I may still have a ways to go i’m happy to report that i’m on the first page for the primary phrase BALTIMORE CAR INSURANCE.  I’m also on the second page for many of the other secondary phrases.  For some reason continues to show me that i’m on the second page though through several proxies I can confirm that i’m hovering in the #7-9 spot.

Links Links Links

What’s next? Building links. I need to continue to build some high value links to this site.  I’m not planning at this point in time to add more content.  The links to this website will be a combination of tiered link building from services like, manual outreach, and even some expired domains that will be built out on unique IP/hosting platforms.  The goal is to not rely on any one of them exclusively but to have them all compliment each other.  This will also help (hopefully) mitigate any future algorithm effects the site could have.

On the topic of  Since i’ve bailed on my plans to dominate in the Boston area i’ve decided to change out all the links I had THEHOTH build to that website.  I simply logged into the web2.0 pages they set up and replaced the links from my old Boston site to the new Baltimore site.  I hope this will continue to build authority and add a plethora of linking domains and unique anchor text.

Anchor text is something i’m going to be extremely cautious with.  I don’t want any single keyword phrase to be above 10% so that will force me to vary my anchor text a lot and make sure I have a ton of domains linking to the site.  I personally think this is the key to making sure you don’t get effected my Penguin.  I’m experimenting with some lower value links from increase the amount of linking domains to some of my sites.  I’m hesitant to send a lot of these links to my money site but think it could be a great addition to web2.0 properties that THEHOTH service builds out.

Monetization Method In Place

Now that the site is climbing up the SERPS I found it extremely important to be prepared for when the traffic starts coming in.  I worked with my account manager over at and was able to get my new conversion form built.  At first I had what’s considered a ‘basic’ form (see image at top of this post) which only requires users to input their zipcode in order to get insurance quotes.  However, by implementing the ‘smart form’ requiring the user to input a few answers to questions I will be able to increase each lead payout roughly $1-$3.00 each.  Definitely worth it in my opinion.  Once I have some established traffic i’ll definitely test this out though.

That’s all I have for you guys right now. I hope the next update I have will include some EARNINGS!!  I’ve been seeing some great success in the SERPS so don’t be surprised if I have an update sooner than later.  This is my new primary public site now that the vacuum Amazon site is gone.  Do you have suggestions for what I should do to the site? I’m always open to what you guys have to say. Leave me a note in the comments below.

  1. Hoping to see some sweet income reported next month. Your rank position is not bad at all. I’m still clawing at no. 25 for my insurance niche site.

    1. One spot at a time… one spot. That’s what I keep telling myself. We’ll get to #1 soon enough!

  2. My English isn’t great but is there two typos in here “effected my Penguin” 😛

100% agree on anchor text, IMO opinion the lower the better, with only a tiny amount of EM from the best properties.

    1. Hey Tim, my typing definitely isn’t as good as my SEO. We all have stuff to improve upon huh? 🙂

  3. Hi Nick

The site looks great. I hope you kill it with that site. I love the minimalism of it, definitely keeping it simple. What theme or you using? Maybe in a future post you can let us know the progress of your link building i find a lot of people including myself would like to outsource that seeing how time consuming and tedious its but are scared about a penalties from google.

    1. Hi Mike – sorry for the late response. I utilized a theme that is offered on WordPress for free. I then paid someone on oDesk about $20.00 to modify the header and make it customizable via the widgets. This allows me to add my conversion form.

Thanks for the future post suggestions. I always want to write about stuff you guys are interested in reading!!

    1. Hi Nicko! Glad you stopped by. This website and my personal websites utilize different techniques then my company. I tend to make many more ‘risky’ decisions and tactics since it only effects my bottom line. We are a little more conservative in using our more successful tactics for out clients.

No worry about being rude. It’s all good and i’m glad I could clear that up. 🙂

  6. Cool! Yeah, I understand it’s an interest towards back hat again after backlink xxx and other newly released courses.
Anyway, I am fan og high PR guest post, I somethimes outsource it as well.

I will keep on following you, thanks for answer.
